I haven't had a new journal since December. So I think it's about time I changed it.

War. It’s a small word that contains so much evil. There is so much murder and death involved in any type of war. This all makes me wonder why someone would ever want to be involved in a war at all what so ever. Why would you want to risk you life in order to kill other people? You would put your life in jeopardy so you could murder somebody’s someone: someone’s father, someone’s daughter or son, someone’s husband, brother, mother, sister, fiancé, wife, or best fiend. Even President Jimmy Carter said, “We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other’s children.”

War is the only legal version of murder and suicide. People run into almost certain death to slaughter other human beings and shatter the lives of everyone who knew them. They know that they most likely will die in war and they willingly take lifes of numerous people. But war does not simply affect those who are in the war. It has an effect on those who care about the person caught up in a war just as much if not more then the person who actually is in the war. An individual in the midst of a war is forced to witness death and commit murder all with the high chances that someone will kill them in the process. But what about the people back home who love this individual dearly? They endure just as much pain in a more emotional way. They have to live with the constant worry that the war will take the life of the one they love. And the majority of the time they do die and their family and friends have to live in grief for the rest of their lives. It is such a selfish thing to become part of a war. You would cause your loved ones so much suffering. It is a form of suicide that allows you to be engulfed in violence before you die. It is similar to jumping off a bridge or shooting yourself in the head except for the fact that it is a slower death which everyone knows is coming that is far more corrupt then any other from of suicide.

War is glorified to be a “necessary” evil but just as Rachel Carson said, “We cannot have peace among men whose hearts delight in killing any living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing we set back the progress of humanity.”
